Cameras, bulletproof window and several entrance safety measures are part of our security protocol.

What about security?
All precautions are taken to help ensure the security of the battered women and children who live there. In CIAM CANCUN shelter, there are people on duty 24 hours a day who are trained to respond to emergency situations, and who are able to closely monitor access to the building. The staff can also offer emergency counseling to shelter residents who may need to talk at hours when other residents are asleep.
Is a battered woman really safe in a shelter?
Women who enter CIAM CANCUN shelter are required to sign a confidentiality agreement that states they will not reveal the location of the residence. If this agreement is violated, a woman may have to move out to ensure her own safety. This disincentive encourages women to keep the shelter address confidential. Because the address of the shelter is confidential, women are not allowed to have visitors or receive telephone calls. They can make certain phone calls from a safe phone with the assistance of a social worker.
Can the residents have visitors?
Not at the shelter, however, at CIAM Cancun they are free to meet with their friends and safety network at an outside location and are transferred to the visiting home with a security team in a safe vehicle.
